Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

In a large bowl, mix together 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder until well combined. Then add 3 tablespoons of melted butter or margarine and 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil (or coconut oil). 

Mix again until well combined into dough that holds together when pressed between your fingers–it should not be sticky at all! If it is sticky add more flour by tablespoons until you get this consistency. Finally add a couple tablespoons of chocolate chips here too if desired (I left mine out so I could eat them plain later).

Press half of this mixture into an 8″ cast iron skillet sprayed with cooking spray or greased lightly with oil then bake for 15 minutes at 350F degrees while preparing topping ingredients below:
